    Very nice pictures Ellen...
I knew you could do it!

  • Ada,
    Thanks for visiting and commenting.
Like you I had Willy's help to be able to post pictures here.

No commenting on your blog, so I hope you see this here.

    "Huff and Puff" classes, LOL.
When I came to this country women were not told anything by their (M.D.)doctors. My main intention with helping establish the classes
was for the education of women and partners. That alone helps much with coping. If something for the pain is needed, by all means get it!! The Epidural leaves the head clear, and the woman can enjoy that indescribably wonderful moment of birth!!!!
And I was allowed to share!!!!

Have a great rest of Sunday!
I'll be spending it with my adoring Geezers. LOL

  • tangolady,
You don't really want me to mess with your computer, messing up is all I'd do.
How about some of the fantastic pictures from your recent trip with itchyfeet to Estes Park?
    Same goes for itchyfeet.....
I am out of the orphanage with your return.

You all have a fantastic Labor Day.
Hmm, Labor Day....I had many of those....

  • Hi Ellen,
It's nice to see what you look like finally. One of these days I will figure out how to post pictures on my blog.
My daughter has started school. Oh memories of my wusband doing the same thing and the stress that goes with constant testing. But so far she is doing fine. I think moving to a bigger place has helped. She has a study all to herself. And not in her bedroom. As for me. All her papers go into the study and not in my space. Keeps Mom sane.
Did you enjoy your Grandmas day? I am flying up to Massachusetts to see my Grams tomorrow. Just a quick overnight trip. I plan on going at least once a month now.

    Have an awesome day!!
    Carol

  • Hi Carol,
Thanks for the picture of you and Gram's. She looks fantastic, more like 65 than 91.
Looks like her great jeans have passed onto you.

Tell the future D.O. hello; she has no idea how lucky she is to be with you.
The toughest part for me when going through Medical School (as it still is) was not having any family in this country.
My than 6 and 5 year old boys is literally all I had, not even a car. But it was all worth it!!!! And as my pictures show you, I made up for not having a car back than.
    Have an awesome week,
    Ellen

  • By coincidence I just found out how to get Picasa and with it put pictures on a blog:
On my blog, next to the upper right of the pictures, is a little square with 4 colors. When you click on that it gives you instructions on how to use Picasa to blog pictures.
I originally got the Picasa address from our blog genius Willy.

  • Hi Marty,
Once I travelled (with my sister from Germany and our children) from Denver to San Francisco on a 3 week trip through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, into California. We were amazed at the hundreds of miles of "brown" country from Las Vegas on.
Since than I appreciate the greenness of Ohio!
Great that you got your pictures up, congratulations!!!! :-)

  • I tried to post on Leslie's site, but for some reason couldn't.
What's with this having to sign in as a blogger each time anew? Does everyone have that going on now?

Boy, could I tell some dental horror stories with my bad teeth! But why make you all cringe?
The drooling reminds me of my recent adventure of having 2 molars implanted several years ago:
The lower left lip has forever lost its ability to feel, kind of a permanent Novocaine injection. A branch of the 5th cranial nerve got damaged when the Surgeon/ Orthodontist implanted the gizmos for the future teeth. I have to drink out of the right size cup not to "drool". Never got used to the loss of feeling in my lip when kissing!! Of course I don't do THAT any more! :-(
(The only man I dated, since becoming a widow, died of Cancer April 2005 at the age of 46).

    Leslie,
Is your new front tooth a crown? Lots cheaper than tooth implants, which with involving 3 surgeries runs into several thousand $ per tooth!
But better than being "the toothless wonder"! :-)

  • Hello Ellen

An official invitation for you to come on over to take a virtual tour of Belize City. Let me know what you think, eh?

Having to sign in each time as a blogger has to do with the switch to beta that is going on with blogger.com It is confusing so I am sticking to being a regular blogger until I understand more about what a beta blogger is all about.

    Thirsty Thursday anyone? LOL

If you live in the USA, congratulations to being one of
300,000,000! Anyone know how the 300 million's person arrived?
Just spent time wearing out my 4 grandchildren in Michigan, so I am not up to all the news.
My mind is geared to 3 to 10 and 76 to 98 year olds, so I cant' think of anything clever to say.
You all have a good Humpday,

  • An important message:

A woman had an accident in which she totaled her car.
It was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydroplane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence!
When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened he told her something that every driver should know -
NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH
    YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON.
She had thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain.
The highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on and your car begins to hydroplane,
when your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed and you take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred.
The patrolman said this warning should be listed,on the driver's seat sunvisor -
NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY,
    along with the airbag warning.
Use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

I had a similar experience when driving on a slush-covered road and a Semi passed me on the right.
My car "flew" across the 3 right lanes into an embankment.

After sending this to my e-mail friends, 2 wrote back with a similar experience when having on the cruise control in rainy weather.

There are now cars with "rain sensitive" windshields, that do not allow the cruise control on when the wipers are on.

  • Hello blogging friends,
I feel the need to show my opinionated self:
itchyfeet sent me RR's latest Newsletter: "Italy in Autumn", and I am itching to comment:
RR's life's theme went from "romance for the over 45" to "fun and travel" in just 18 months!! Guess he turned into a fuddy duddy that is trying to make a living off the women he roped in
with a promise for a "free" trip with first one, than 6 possible life partners. Clever him picked
6 FFFs with Financial stability. Than he bowed out with a now totally cured prostate cancer, to show his real colors: To use people, while bolstering his ego to the max.
Remember his tale of getting a fancy hotel room with false credentials, calling the gullible hotel manager a schmuck?! When I posted on his site how dishonest and condescending he acted,
many ladies came to his defense as it "being funny". Well, now we see that those were his true
    colors.
According to another one of his latest Newsletters he has problems "expressing his feelings (like most men do????) ?
That is because he is too self centered to understand others, especially women's, feelings.
And he is too egotistical to even see that.
Oh well, no surprise to me, I pegged him soon into his blogging.
Glad I didn't waste my time and money with an application to be one of the FFFs....

  • ULTIMATE FEMALE JOKE

It has long been contended that there are male jokes and there are female jokes, and there are unisex jokes. Here is a joke I consider a true female joke. I offer it to you in the hopes that women will love it and men will pass it along to a woman who will love it.

A woman was sitting at a bar enjoying an after work cocktail with her girlfriends when an exceptionally tall, handsome, extremely sexy, middle-aged man entered. He was so striking that the woman could not take her eyes off him.
The young-at-heart man noticed her overly attentive stare and walked directly toward her. (As all men will.)
Before she could offer her apologies for staring so rudely, he leaned over and whispered to her, "I'll do anything, absolutely anything, that you want me to do, no matter how kinky, for $20.00......on one condition."
Flabbergasted, the woman asked what the condition was. The man replied, "You have to tell me what you want me to do in just three words."
The woman considered his proposition for a moment, and then slowly removed a $20 bill from her purse, which she pressed into the man's hand along with her address. She looked deeply into his eyes, and slowly and meaningfully said....

    "Clean my house."

    Have an awesome Sunday :-)

  • Perception
There are always two ways to look at everything, I guess.
A man and his wife are dining at a table in a plush restaurant, and the husband keeps staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sits alone at a nearby table.
The wife asks, "Do you know her?"
"Yes," sighs the husband, "She's my ex-girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up seven years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since."
"My God!" says the wife, "Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?"

  • Hey Ellen,

Your jokes just keep getting better! :)

Thanks for the great advice on the car hydroplaning whilst on cruise control. Something I will remember for the future.

  • Thank you ladies for the New Year greetings.
I tried to answer on your blogs, but could not get on Enid's or Sylvia's "leave your comment" column.
Since it shows up as insert, does my Pop up blocker keep it from showing?

On Brenda's blog I ran into a lively discussion of on-line dating.
    Very interesting!
    I have never tried it.
The very incidence that brought us together, the BS "ad-venture", was disappointing enough.
After seeing him on Ophra I said
"there is a man that would interest me"; and thousands of women thought the same.
But once we got to know the man
somewhat through his blog, the attraction faded away for many
    of us.

It got to be so much more difficult to find a partner by "mail", where one doesn't know how much is truth or fiction before ever meeting the person....

But what would life be without hope??!!
May some of it become reality this year.
So lets make it a great one,
    Ellen

  • Hi Ellen,
Happy 2007. On line dating was a trip. And fall.
I found control freaks, finger pointers and men that just wanted to get laid. 5 times a night with 5 different women. You get the idea. So not me.
I actually had a guy tell me I was weird because I didn't like him pointing his finger in my face to make a point. I didn't get that one. Nor his desire to control every minute of my day. And I sent him an email telling him to get lost. His response was really nasty.
I have come to the conclusion that men are more burned by divorce than they let on. Especially if they don't do the asking. And out of 90% of the on line guys. The wives dumped them. At least in Florida. Now mind you I really weeded them down to almost non existent. As Sunni says "my walls are really high."
Work is interesting for me. Very physical for sure. I do find it hard to go to work on days I get 50% from Dr Feelgood. But my job really pisses him off. ;-} But I didn't take it for him. I took it for me.
I am now looking at getting a flight attendants job. Easier on the body. I am finding doing ramp work hard on this 48 year old body. But I won't give in just yet. My shoulder injury just doesn't want to heal. Throwing around heavy bags is not helping. But I am now in great shape. I lost the 15 pounds. Gained my muscles back. But I can't afford to loose any more weight. I know. Most people would kill for that. But I can get to 100 pounds without trying. And thats not good. And I gave away all my tiny clothes.

I hope you and your family are having a fantastic 2007.

    Carol

By Blogger beachgirl, at 7:21 PM

  • Hi Carol,
What a nice surprise to hear from you.

Maybe Franny could put up a blog for on-line dating experiences. we
all could learn from it, even if like me, never tried.
I went through the perfectmatch compatibility profile, but had a problem putting out an advertisement of myself.
    So never joined.

What happened to the "next door"--Arizona friend you mentioned a couple times?

It has been an interesting year here in our blogging world, and I am looking forward to sharing our experiences this New Year,

    Ellen

By Blogger droma, at 10:16 PM

  • Hi Ellen,
My next door neighbor moved locally. Got back together with an old girlfriend who is in the army. I think long distance relationships work for him better. We will always stay in touch. He helped me beat my xanex addiction last November (2005). I believe we meet people for a reason. No one comes and goes without making an impact on our lives. His got me off the chill pill and gave me my life back.
It's amazing what the Dr's give you and how it affects you. The antidepressant gave me high blood pressure. Everything is gone now. My blood pressure is normal again. And the weight did an adjustment all on its own.
Dr Feelgood is still doing what he does best. He will never change. Maybe someday he will find out why he is so angry. Maybe not. Not my problem anymore. And I am so much better for that.
How are the grandkids? How's work?

I am off in the Miata today for a relaxing day. My brother in law is in on vacation. Roof down and just a sightseeing, picture taking kind of day.

    Have an awesome day!!

The attachment is a picture of my "old" convertible (74 Jag.) safely garaged for the winter in not so sunny Ohio.
The RR groupie I was talking about is "dreamweaver" or Val the Gal. Wonder whatever happened to her, she lost her forum with the closure of the BS blog. She sure had anger problems! Maybe by now she has found the right herbs to cure her woes, LOL.
I am picturing you riding off into the sunset in your Miata.
    Make it an awesome experience!

  • Hello bloggers,

As a reminder what got us together:
Today I received RR's (the 12/19/06 repeated) Newsletter.
    SENIOR BACHELOR ON THE MOVE

    His original venture:
To travel with ONE soul mate through the world for 6 months,
    AT HIS EXPENSE!!!!!
Than after his prostate removal, he had the realization, that all that really matters is family.
And his travel with the Fabulous 4 left may resume, depending on his recovery.

    Obviously he is fully recovered.
    Here his "new" plans:
To move to Italy = FAR away from his family
To be a tour guide for travel through Italy; =at the expense of the "guests", to whom he will also SUBlet a house at a minimum of $ 300.oo per day.
RR said himself he only knows English.....

Wonder how Oprah would conduct an interview regarding his romantic search.....for $$

  • Ellen you crack me up. I haven't ridden it yet. A friend brought it home for me. Test drove it while I was at work, then brought it home after test driving it. He says it's awesome.
I went to work and pushed around jets. A light flight day.
I have to take a few private lessons before I take it out myself for safety reasons. And I'm smart enough to know that. So I am trusting my friends to teach me how to operate it safely. In return they let me know I am good to go. I love bikes, so now I have my own. No more trying to find someone to take me for a ride. I am impatient.

I hope all is well in your world.
    Have an awesome night.

By Blogger beachgirl, at 7:37 PM

  • tangolady,
I'll make an attempt to explain the blogs with "sobriety testing".
As an example go to Leslie's blog.
To leave a comment, you have to type in a bunch of letters for it to get posted.
Those letters are sort of screwy, so its' easy to make a mistake in trying to repeat them.
That is why I dubbed it the "sobriety test".
If you repeat the letters wrong, you get asked to try again with a new set of letters.
For each post you have to go through the whole process again.

On Leslie's blog I just posted as ANON.
When RR changed his blog for registered bloggers only,
one could not post as ANON anymore, only as the by blue indicated blogger.
That is when many of us signed up, like Carol becoming beachgirl.

BTW, Leslie has some beautiful pictures posted from her Italy trip.
And she gives good descriptions /identifications......
Umberto could take an example in that.
She also does not show us a bunch of "rear views" LOL, LOL!

Oh yes, her English is also much more understandable....LOL

And no one here is leaving posts for me to make sarcastic remarks about, LOL.

  • Franny,
You sound disappointed about your lover disappearing when problems arose.

    USA TODAY font page picture:
"Guilty on 4 counts: Lewis Libby leaves court with his wife, Harriet Grant..."
Its' so typical: When a man is in court because of "allegedly" committing a crime and/ or infidelity, the wife is right by his side.
A woman accused of the same, no husband in sight unless he is also "involved" with the accusations.

At a men's prison, visitors have to wait in line for their turn to see a prisoner, because there are so many of them (visitors).
In a stark contrast, at women's prisons is the absence of visitors.

    "Stand by your man..."
but not by your woman when she has problems.....

    Sad fact of life, Franny.

Weibchen.

  • Hi Pat,
Did you get your itchy feet scratched enough in China?
Now how many countries have you visited?

I got back from a fun ski trip Sunday 4/8 ~3AM, from an icy cold Denver to an even icier Akron with unsalted streets. Made me a bit "skittish", LOL! No not really funny. Not my kind of ski---tish.....

    Just visited www.storchennest.de;
They think it is Cico that returned to the nest on 3/25. Over the next few days he copulated with 3 females, and than had them leave the nest. Finally on 4/4 he accepted the 4th female; they think it is Luna, his former partner in that nest.
They are both in the nest right now, 4/10 @ 1:45 AM, 7:45 AM their time.
Germany is 6 hours ahead from EST here in Ohio. And they put the day before the month in a date.

BTW, this is the closest to sex I have been to in a looong time, LOL!!!

You all have an awesome week, wherever you are!!!!

  • Leslie and Josie,
What lovely pictures on your blogs!
Sharing them gives a much needed ray of sunshine.
    Thank you! -:)

Here in Ohio the daffodils are in full bloom. Last and this weekend it has turned cold and snowy, having many of the blooms bent down to the ground. Maybe its' a good thing the tulips have not opened yet, they don't tolerate snow as well.

Is 4/15 tax day in Canada too?
Interesting that the weather temperamentally April has been chosen for such a gloomy day.
One good thing about not earning much, short tax form to fill out.

  • Ellen you make me laugh as usual.
The weather down here has been hot, hot, hot.

The cold front came thru, I about froze on my motorcycle this morning. The wind is still kicking, but alas, they say 80 again tomorrow.

I hope you have a fantastic spring.

  • Hi Carol,
    Good to hear from you.
Great you are riding a motorbike!
I put a note on your blog. Man, that took an extra difficult sobriety test! Almost drove me to drink, LOL!
    Have a "good" T-day tomorrow!

  • Hi Ellen,
The shoulder came from work. A pulled muscle in the shoulder turned into tendonits.
Come on and learn to ride. It's fun and easy. I try to ride everyday. With a full face helmet of course. I usually ride with a friend, today was watch out for the jaguar drivers day. They were trying to run us down.
I have been in physical therapy off and on for months. The deep tissue messages feel good.
    I tried snow skiing, too cold. No brakes. ;-}

  • All quiet on the home front (Franny's & here)!
What happened to all the great friendships forged?
Maybe no news is good news!? :-)
Not much going on in my life.
But the storks have been productive, possibly 5 eggs in the nest.
Luna & Cico have added so much to the new nest furnished to them, that the center is rather deep, and the eggs not all visible.
They are guessing at 5 by the way the storks turn the eggs for even warmth distribution.
    Tschuess,
    Ellen
